East Atlanta Business Association has been chosen for a 1 year Atlanta Main Street Fellowship program focusing on Economic Vitality, Promotion, Organization and Design. 

National Program to guide economic development - we’re one of three selected (Sweet Auburn and Westview are the other two). Out of the planning and zoning office of the City of Atlanta. Between this and the City of Atlanta Placemaking grant, it’s over $20,000 for East Atlanta.

• East Atlanta Historic District Designation Presentation:Stephanie L. Cherry-Farmer,  East Atlanta property owner and historic preservationist.

• • East Atlanta and the National Register of Historic Places

  • Over 4,000 properties

  • Big misconception - National Register (out of federal government) is not a regulatory organization - it recognizes our neighborhood’s history, but does not protect or regulate. Protection comes from a LOCAL Historic Designation under local zoning code.

    • Generally have retained historic integrity

    • One of 4 criteria (in presentation)
